Hi All,
I'm wondering if anyone out there can help me.
I have an iMac, running OS X 10.6.6, and have shared my printer for use by the windows laptops on my home network, with a mix of Windows 7 and Windows Vista machines.
I have a couple of issues:-
1. When I first shared the printers (back in Tiger) I could see print jobs hit the print queues, and manipulate as appropriate. Ever since the upgrade to 10.6, (possibly 10.5) I can't see the print jobs on the Mac print queue. The jobs still print (usually) but the print queue is empty. Also, if I run lpstat, I see no entries (I am a Unix Sysadmin, so am fairly comfortable with unix print queues)
Sometimes, it is good to be able to cancel the job, once you realise it is hundreds of pages, which might put some stress on my little inkjet!
Can anyone tell me how to return to the pre-leopard setting, and be able to manage the queue locally?
My second query is in the same area. our Windows Vista laptop (which really is the Dark Side) seems to lose the printer set up. I have installed Bonjour for windows to provide the connectivity (via Wifi) to the mac print queue, but regularly need to re-add the printer. Is there any way to make this stick?
I tried setting up the printer via windows sharing, and this has also caused me some probs, and I get a message saying unable to connect - insufficient privileges, and although the test page prints OK, I don't seem to be able to print from applications.
Can anyone out there help, it is making me a little frustrated.
Many thanks.
Tim
