Hi Forum Members,
I am having a problem with my Aging 17" Intel Core2Duo iMac (3GB RAM) and am hoping that someone can help.
For a long time, I haven't been able to install the BBC iPlayer app. This is no big deal, as I just use the website to watch instead, and everything is hunky-dory. The installation seems to work, but the program just doesn't run.
The issue appears to be with running Adobe Air applications, and started (I think) when I was running Snow Leopard, but I'm now running Lion, and the problem persists. As I say, it wasn't causing serious problem, so I never really looked at the issue.
It has now become more of a problem, as My son wants to run a demo of Adobe Flash, to create an App for his Alevel ICT project.
Trying to download the demo fails, as the Adobe Air install for the downloader fails, giving no error message.
I have tried running this as bot my sons user account (non-admin) and mine (admin)
Does anyonwe have any ideas on what I can do to resolve the problem, other than wipe and re-install (one of the reasons I prefer Macs to PCs is that I shouldn't have to do this to resolve a problem.) as A level deadlines are approaching, I can't affort the time to wipe and reinstall all the apps, and the risk that files may be lost or apps/install keys lost.
Eventually, I want to replace the iMac, (esp as the screen has about 15 coloured lines on it, and the internal HDD has died, so Im running the OS from an external USB drive) but can't afford it at the mo.
Thanks in advance for any assistance given.
Tim.
