Not sure if anyone still looks at this site, but here goes.... I (foolishly) downloaded Yosemite a few days ago. Apart from it taking literally hours to download, as expected, I had to manually restart the computer several times to complete the installation. Since then it does not start normally on wake up in the mornings without needing manual intervention. In addition to that all kinds of Apps including important ones like 1Password 5 do not work properly. The applications folder seems to constantly scroll - in fact the whole thing is a mess! What should I do? How do I revert to mavericks? Any advice/comments would be welcome.
Wouldn't this be a good topic for Will to explore, using his expertise on British mac?
Thanks folks.

Further to my above query. I was beginning to get desperate as my iMac was virtually unusable, so phoned Apple and after spending well over an hour on the phone to a very helpful young lady in Portugal, deleting masses of redundant stuff, some of which must have been reacting badly with Yosemite my computer is now running beautifully - with Yosemite!
One useful tip I can pass on, it appears that newly downloaded Apple software even although free, includes 30 days free telephone support from Apple. Maybe not a lot of people know that? - I certainly didn't.
Full marks to apple support.

Glad to hear that you got up and running in the end. I have been very lucky by all accounts - my creaking old Mid-2007 iMac and my Late-2011 MacBook Air have both updated without any issues. Everything runs beautifully. It's sad but this forum is all but deserted these days - I guess with the defacto (even if Will has good intentions) demise of the show, this was always going to happen. :\

I was concerned about updating my mid 2008 iMac, so took the step of formatting the hard drive and starting a fresh install, everything is working great for me.
