I'm casting my vote for the classic BBC Radio Comedy "The Goon Show" The Goons included Spike Milligan, Peter Sellers and Harry Secombe. They first appeared on the radio in 1951 (before many of us were born) with surreal story lines, absurd logic, puns, catchphrases and ground breaking sound effects. They ridiculed the pomposity of those in authority and laughed at the stupidity of mankind. Recording over 160 shows in their 9 year history together plus a few special appearances including "The Last Goon Show of All" in 1972 BBC iPlayer

Absolutely excellent choice, but for some reason I have an inkling that it's been done.
