Fantastic. It now supports airTunes where the AppleTV can be the server and not just the client.
So I'm now going to buy an airport express (or two) to plug into various music playing devices around the house. Then I can stream music to them from my Apple TV and control everything with the Remote application on my iPod Touch, all without needing a computer to be left on.
Not of interest to me is another feature of 2.3 whereby it can learn commands from one of your existing remote controls (say, your TV remote control in Video mode, or whatever) and so you don't need to use the little white remote controller anymore. I already use a nice Logitech universal remote control.

Oh, man. this is so beautiful.
My new Airport Express arrived last week and within JUST 10 MINUTES I was able to stream music from my Apple TV to the hi-fi in the kitchen (where I plugged-in the Airport Express), all controlled from the Remote application on the iPod Touch.
Now I DON'T need to have ANY computers powered-up at all and I can listen to my full music and podcast library either in the lounge, or anywhere else in the house using the Airport Express.
This may be too much information, but last night I was in the bath for a very happy 1.5 hours controlling my Apple TV music library from the iPod Touch whilst the sound was delivered over some Logitech mm50 speakers plugged into the Airport Express.
It's pure genius!
The combination of AppleTV, Airport Express, and Remote application on iPod touch or iPhone has to be the best and most flexible home-entertainment systrem available
Alan.
