Is anyone else using Spotify?Until recently it was invitation only, but now anyone can sign up. I've just signed up and am happily listening to some rather wonderful John McLaughlin which proves that the range is not too limited. There are two models - a free account which is apparantly supported by advertising (although I haven't heard an advert yet and I've been listening for 13 minutes. Or a paid account (£9.99 per month) which is advert free. Some tracks have been made unavailable, but there seems to be a pretty wide range from all the major labels, but I haven't had a chance to look for anything seriously obscure yet. Seems like a pretty good notion to me. Tim

Hey, yeah, i've been using it for a couple of weeks. I really like it, it does seem to have most of latest released albums up there. The ads are quite un-intrusive ina way, its just like 30 seconds and usually will only hear 1 or 2 through a whole album. I don't think it will replace my itunes library or music purchasing, but its nice to be able to discover new music and to listen through albums before you decide whether to purchase or not

My wife is a huge U2 fan, so tonight we're going to have a family meal whilst listening to the new U2 album. You can only pre-order it on iTunes or Amazon.

As far as I can gather only members who joined before 19 December, use weak passwords and haven't changed their passwords need worry. Still it is a salutory lesson. I do recommend using something like 1Password which creates/ remembers strong passwords. It also makes it easier to change them regularly.
Still love Spotify

I only started using the free Spotify a couple of days ago but I've listened to a load of music and not heard a single advert yet. I've found some music I'd not heard before and it's great.

Yes, I've not had an advert all afternoon. I wonder if their business model makes sense?

After this thread, I have downloaded the said software and am very impressed. The free version has a lot of music and I've not heard a single advert today!
Thank you,
Peter.

With Richard Thompson in the background, I'm a bit relieved to hear that I have had several adverts this afternoon - about one every half hour. Perhaps they won't go bust this month. My copy of MacUser arrived today - the cover proclaims that Spotify will replace iTunes. Haven't read the article yet
