With OS X 10.5 Leopard just around the corner, some may be wondering whether to take the plung when the first version that comes out. History shows us that the .0 version an a OS X release is quite buggy. In effect, the consumers are used as large beta test bed. For instance, the last three OS X .0 releases were replaced after a few weeks with a .1 version. A list of the timings between releases can be found at Switch To A Mac:- switchtoamac.com/site/1049-the-longest-wait-for-any-mac-os-x-update-165-days.htmlSo, if you can hold on for a few weeks after Leopard comes out, do so. I for one, won't be able to wait and will take the plunge on day one!

My dilema is I have just got some money for a new computer (at work). Do I buy a MacPro now, or wait until Leopard is released? If I get a MacPro now I wont have the money to upgrade

The new Mac Pros will be here by June at the latest but the slip-up by the Apple UK store suggests we'll see something much sooner than that, so I'd wait if I was you.
As for Leopard, it will only cost around £80 to upgrade (using the Amazon.co.uk price for Tiger as an indicator), so that should not be the reason whether to wait or buy.

Having never upgraded my 12" PowerBook G4 to Tiger, I am quite keen to get Leopard asap. However, is my 512Mb of RAM going to be enough?
As for whether to wait for Leopard to be released before buying a MacPro, I guess it depends how desperate you are to have a new machine. Personally I would wait.

Tiger's minimum is 256MB but I find it really runs well at 1GB.
Some are saying you should have a G5 or Intel Mac to run Leopard, or a recent G4 with a Core Image compatible graphics card.
Also, some don't recommend running Leopard on anything less than a 1GHz machine. Someone in another forum is running the developer version on a 400MHz G4 and it's very slow. A Dual processor is preferable.
RAM wise: 512MB for PowerPC, 1GB for Intel (to be safe).
