Higher Education students can get around 15% discount* if they either:- 1) Buy from their institution's website using a special URL from their university to Apple or 2) Calling Apple by telephone * A great point to note is that the Higher Education Apple Care is only £50 so you make a killing on this compared to the usual price (and even the normal student discount! ). Some companies also offer discounts on Apple products if you visit a special Apple URL from the company website. For instance, BT gives you a 5%-8% discount on Apple products, including the Apple TV and iPods (both of which are NOT discounted for students!!). So, check with your employer to see if they have a deal with Apple.

Would it actually be illegal to phone and use the Higher Education Discount if your not in higher education?
I got the regular students discount because my brother has been accepted into Sixth Form college.

Illegal - such a strong word. You would be breaching a contract that you are entering with Apple and Apple can (but usually don't) insist on proof of attendance at the university. If they found out, the most likely thing would be they would want the rest of the money from you - I doubt they'd do more but they could....

I'm attending a higher education institute (p/t distance learning) and got my ed discount with the MBP - however I have yet to be asked for proof. I guess though that sods law would be them spot checking me if I was trying to pull a fast one.
And why I forgot to use my ed discount when I ordered airport base station today is beyond me, guess you concentrate more when it is over £1000 - too late now :-(
