Hi Guys, On Christmas 2008 (going 2009) I became the proud owner of a shiny 2nd gen iPod Touch. I know that the speaker on it is rubbish, but it's still cool and is useful occasionally. Around about three months ago, I started up a game, and the sound was BADLY distorting, as in 100 X Worse than it was originally, it sounds horrible... I've compared with a friends iPod Touch, and there is no comparison.... my sounds muffled, distorted and quite frankly broken!, and hers sounds clean and much louder... and this happened overnight... hasn't got any better or worse since... happens with ALL sounds... I've tested every single app, so my inital reaction is a hardware fault..., I live nowhere near any apple store, (apart from the resellers in Salisbury), so how do I go about getting this repaired... it's still under warranty... or is there any way I can fix it myself... hold on a sec, I just found the answer, apparently you have to have EQ on bass reducer, but that surley is still a hardware fault, because it wouldn't have happened overnight?!, oh well... what do you guys think?¿

If you've tried a complete factory restore of the iPod (including reinstalling the latest firmware), then it probably needs to go back to Apple because if it's hardware fault, if you open it up, the warranty is void and if you aren't a hardware expert, you're more likely to do damage.

It might not do you any harm to pop into your local reseller if they aren't too far away from you (I assume it's Stromfront as you mentioned Salisbury + I think they are Apple Authorized Service Providers).
ps. There's a chance that any service procedures might involve wiping your iPod's memory so it's probably worth making sure any important data on it backed up first.

Talk to Apple. Repairs for Apple kit can be done by any authorised dealer if under waranty. Or they might get you to send it to them. Cat

You can also do the whole thing online via the Support section of the Apple Website. If they agree it is covered by the warranty, they will collect it by courier - I've had several pairs of headphones as the ones they supply are so c$*p.

Ouch - I paid over £30 twice for two pairs of these MM50s. Superb sound, though for the price and they don't fall out of my ears when I'm running.
