Holy spondooliks Batman! That's an immense amount of money to throw at a phone! Okay, so it's a bit more than just a phone, but still five hungered squids on a shiny bauble! Man, I need to sit down. I've spent about £200 on my PAYG thingy in total over the past five years or so. This is true. However add on the cost of your iPod to that and the difference is a little less stark. Cat

Granted, my iPod is not a camera/video//mobile phone/pocket computer that plays music, I still think a monkey is an awful lot of moolah to spend.
Blimey, it would buy two PC laptops at Currys!

Only two? I would not take that swap. I have decided that I will seek a 32Gig 3G-S at some point. I have been trying to figure out what is the most cost effective way to do it. They don't make it easy do they? Cat

Only two? I would not take that swap. Well, being a Mac user I was looking at halfway decent laptops. But I agree it's not something I'd do out of choice. Still, I guess £500 up front works out a bit cheaper than paying £35 a month for 18 months on top of the phone purchase. (Having actually looked at the numbers on Apple's store, the PAYG option isn't that shabby actually. Okay, the phone is expensive - especially the 32GB one, but there's a lot in it, and for a minimum of a tenner a month for a year you get unlimited browsing and Wi-Fi. I could almost persuade myself it would be worth upgrading from my ancient PAYG Nokia. Good job my accountant would disagree. )

Just be aware that even at £15 per month, tethering doesn't work with the PAYG option. I'm sure someone will jailbreak it soon, but if you prefer to keep your phone as Mr Ive intended it, then Pay Monthly is the only option if you are ever likely to want to use your phone as a modem.

£15 a month for 3GB (I think its 3 anyway) is an utter rip off In my opinion.
