I usually have a lot of Safari windows open and, of course, many of them are running the dreaded Flash. This causes Safari's CPU usage to go through the roof and if I'm working on the laptop it also causes the battery life to be slashed. Adobe seem incapable of coding Flash efficiently so you might think we're stuck with this problem. However, you'd be wrong (as I was). The other day, a work colleague pointed me at this plug-in: github.com/rentzsch/clicktoflash/tree/masterIt works superbly and stops all Flash-based content from running automatically, but also gives you the option to run specific instances if you so choose. It puts you back in total control. After I installed it my Safari CPU usage dropped to about 7% (from about 40%-50%) and I got a whole extra hour of battery life back on a typical cycle. Hope that's useful to you folk too. Alan.

How do you find how much CPU use is going on? I'm on a desktop iMac, so I don't have a battery bar/power monitor in the menu bar...
