What does the Excuse Me app actually do? I have looked it up on iTunes but still am none the wiser. It gets you out of a situation that you don't want to be in. Say you have just been invited into a meeting but the football match starts in two hours. That dam meeting could last for three hours so you use Excuse Me. Before you go into the meeting you start the app. and tell it how long you want to wait. After that time your phone "rings". You then take the call in the normal way, except of course there is nobody there. There is a voice on the other end that the person sat next to you can hear but no so much that they can make out what is being said. You then say "excuse me this is important" and leave the meeting in good time for the match. Mr Cat

I like the look of Off Remote. What use do you put it to?

I quite often go to bed, having left my iMac switched on, Off Remote allows me to shut down my iMac remotely, as long as it is on the same wi-fi network.

There are several reasons for this. However if you have kids that have a machine in their bedroom this strikes me as a wicked tool to have in your armoury. ;D

Thanks Mr Cat. Downloading as I type.
Something weird has started to happen. Every time I visit the site, I get prompted to login to:
Domain: idisk.me.com Realm: me.com
Username: Password:
I'd like to show you a picture but I'm obviously thick. I've downloaded Skitch and can't figure getting an image on to this site yet. much more worried there might be some security scam.....
Yours (a sober) bb

I've just got the same thing - but only when I visit this thread. If I click cancel everything works as normal - but sjbuchanan007's avatar is missing. I think he might previously have hosted it on idisk - possibly a closed dot me account?

I never switch off a Mac. There are several reasons for this. I switch mine off at almost every oppurtunity. I'm scared of a) Overheating, because there is only one 'hole' in the back of the iMac, and also sometimes aftr a few hours of use iStat Nano widget says that the 'ambient' temperature is 30 something degrees. b) It switches on miles faster than my Windows PC did, so if I ever need it I only have to wait about 30 seconds instead of 6 and a half minutes (I timed it) until my old PC was ready to use.

Don't fear for your Mac, it won't overheat, uptime on my iMacs is often measured in months. However no need to keep it on if you don't need it on. You will save a few quid each year too.
