Should I upgrade the memory in my Mac Mini, is it worth getting someone to do it (costing £67 all included) or do it myself (costing £27)
What do you think? Keep in mind I'm more of a software fan than a hardware expert but I have upgraded the RAM in my MBP.
Should I just get an expert to do it?

Hmm, they say it is quite easy to do.
Depends on two main issues.
1) How rich are you.
2) How much of a clumsy arse are you?
;D

The video installation guides from Other World Computers at eshop.macsales.com/installvideos/ might help you make your mind up about whether you want to be opening the Mac Mini up yourself.....

Thanks for the tip. I think my macmini has the bluetooth module so I've heard that makes it trickier

I guess the question is how much do you value your time at? It'll probably take you about half and hour, some shredded nerves and the risk that you'll damage your Mac Mini. If you cost that at less than £80 per hour, do it yourself. If you think you're worth more than £80 per hour pay someone else to do it. To be honest, I think £40 sounds pretty good value

Like I say I spend so little on the mac I don't want to spend more on the ram than the system itself.. I'll keep everyone posted on how it goes.

I was planning on upping my imac to 4GB from Crucial website. There is an app there that tells you what memory you will need, depending on your Mac model. www.crucial.com/uk/systemscanner/MacOS.aspxApparently, it is basically unscrew the bottom, pull the old ones out, jam the new ones in, put the cover back on. But we all know that the internet is sometimes prone to making things look easier than they are...

Oh the Imac is pretty easy, even the macbooks (&pros) are just the Mac Minis are hard due to their compact size. I have put extra ram in all my machines before but I've never had to crack open the cases before. Oh a different note, used crucial memory for all my upgrades - they are fantastic.
