Aaaargh! So I'm trying to use Open Office, which needs X11, but no matter what I do I can't get it to load or execute. I've installed X11Tools from the installation disk, then when I searched on Google, found overstimulate.com/articles/installing-x11-on-os-x-10-4-tiger which said to use X11 from the Optional Installs folder on the installation, with nice pretty pictures of the installation disk. Except that it doesn't match my installation disk at all. I've installed any package with X11 in its name, but when I lost the Applications directory or Utilities, there's nothing with X11 in there. I think I'll just shoot myself. But before I do, has anyone any suggestions?

I did install Open Office on my iMac, can't recall any problems with X11, but I have since removed and installed Neooffice, a mac version of open Office.
Might be worth you looking here
Just checked my NeoOffice and it would not launch, i googled this as there is an issue under snow leopard, I have download Patch 7 and everything seems normal again, a little slower than normal, but there is a full release being worked on.

This is how it SHOULD work if your install disc is Tiger www.freesmug.org/tutorial/X11_10.4/It seems that is SHOULD be installed by default on Leopard systems. Which OS did you have on your Mac when you bought it?
