I hope the new phone comes out soon. I really quite fancy an upgrade. Even a new iPhone 4 would be nice (mine is a 3s).

Same here. I'm rocking a 3Gs and hoping for a redesigned iPhone 5 rather than a 4s. Don't know if I'll bother to upgrade if we just get the 4s

Bigger screen to compete with some of the recent Androids (like the HTC Sensation). Faster processor - A5 presumably. Higher resolution cameras.
I think only the screen change would justify the 4 to 5 leap, rather than 4s.
We already know there are a number of iOS 5 advances - I'm looking forward to them. Notifications, PC-free, wifi sync. Apps updates, and built-in integration with Twitter, and we now suspect Facebook too.

I am not sure they can improve it much for me. I am quite happy with my iPhone 4.
Maybe a better camera, not sure about bigger screen, I wouldn't want the phone to be larger than it is!
I am keen to see iOS 5 that sounds like there a lot of improvements.
Mind you I bet I end up getting the iPhone 5, just can't resist new toys ;-)

I think we'll get either a minor upgrade iPhone 4s and an iPhone 5, or just a single iPhone 4s.
If we get both phones then the iPhone 4s will be basically the same as the existing 4 but a single model with CDMA and GSM support plus maybe a storage upgrade. The iPhone 5 will have a bigger screen, A5 processor, thinner design inline with the iPad2, better camera, bluetooth 4 and more memory & storage.
If it's just a single iPhone 4s then it will be the same design as the current 4 but with the A5 processor and a better camera.
Personally I think we'll get the iPhone 4s and the 5. I suspect the leaked photos of an iPhone 4 with the A5 processor inside have been test models and it's been too long between updates just to be an upgraded iPhone 4.
Guess we'll find out next week.

Well I expect any new phone to have the A5 After that I am not sure what else needs to be added. Camera seems to be one of the best out there at the moment. If anything it crrently has too many pixels, I hope they don't add more. What would be nice would be an optical zoom. I think that would be a big ask though in a slim form factor. Video seems fine too. No need for change there. Screen is also probably the best on the market. Bigger? Why? Storage, well yes more would be nice though this would not need a change in form factor. The form factor is nice as it stands. If they keep it the same then everyones accessories will continue to work. Not a priority for Apple but nice for everyone else. Apple will really have to work some magic if they are going to wow me. The iPhone 4 is so good already it will really take some beating.

I agree with Richard and think we'll get a single iPhone 4s with the same design as the current 4 but with the A5 processor and a better camera.
I'll be quite happy if I can just upgrade to a cheaper iPhone 4!

The only thing that puts me off that idea is that if that was ALL we were getting then why the deviation from the one year refresh cycle?

Good point and well made as usual. Also, recent rumours on HSDPA look interesting....

Well as my 3GS had a drink of larger (think it prefers bitter) I'll be getting a 4S unless it has a stupid price.
Happy with what they have done i.e. upped the camera. Not that bothered about a bigger screen as I can't see me watching movies/sky on it.
Now if I can just convince the wife that we really need a iPad . . . .

I would have preferred them to keep the camera at 5Mp and thus improved the low light performance even further. However I think the 4s is just what the pussy cat ordered.

Maybe not worth the effort if you already have an iPhone 4, but for people like me with a newly expired 3GS contract, it looks like a decent upgrade. And the camera is light years ahead of what my 3GS can do.

Slightly disappointed by not getting the iPhone 5. But that is based on the rumours and images floating around the web so only myself to blame. They did look so good.
Looks like a solid update. Apple seem to have spent a lot of time making sure the camera will be the "best in class".
The faster data rates will only be felt in areas were the 3G signal is perfect. I've never run an speed tests on the 3G data rates but I have a feeling I'm not getting a good enough signal to trouble the current 7.2mbps maximum 'round here, let alone reaching the 14.4mbps of the 4S.
I'll be interested to see how well the Siri assistance works in the real world. It's getting good reviews from the people who've tried it so far. Just don't ask it to "Open the pod bay doors"
Overall though I shall be upgrading my 3GS. Probably go for 32GB version.
Richard.
