My iPad was delivered on Thursday and to say I'm impressed would be an understatement.
I am typing this post on it whilst lying in bed.

I might try one in the Apple shop if I can bear to go in...
Hideously busy, especially now since there will be a new toy to fidget with.

Yes. Totally meets my (inflated) expectations. Delivery was attempted yesterday, but I was in London. Came today on their second attempt. Have starting paying for apps. Eek.

Had a quick go on one at the apple store in Bath. It doesn't feel at all like a jumbo iPhone/iPod touch. My poor iPhone 3G felt more like an iPad Nano

Awww. I want to fidget with one now, but I know that as soon as I do I'll want one but can't have one, so its probably best I don't fidget with one.

I have one sitting on the side. Its the 3G one, got for the agency.
Not found a use for it yet though. Everyone went crazy for about a day - since then its sort of sat there unloved.

^ I think it will if it's for an office environment, because you may as well use a real computer do do whatever it is you need than the iPad. I think it's main appeal is for downstairs during TV adverts, quickly searching something to settle an argument or for use when you can't be bothered to get out of bed to turn the computer on (if you don't have a laptop). I wouldn't use this in somewhere like Starbucks... I hate those people. On a bus or train would make me look like I thought I was too superior for 'just' travelling on public transport.
However, the reasons I mentioned are enough to make me want one, but not for full price... Unless something really useful for me comes out.

After a week I am still impressed, I use my iPhone during the day at work and when I am out. My Mac for heavier duty applications such as the videos I do for my wifes work, finances etc, and the iPad sits nicely in between for browsing, social networking, reading the news etc Oh and playing a few games.

I am about to order an iPad and will go for the Wifi version as it will almost exclusively be used at home. However, it occurred to me that it might be possible to access the internet when away by linking to a mobile phone with web access via bluetooth as an alternative to the MiFi option. Am I missing something?

Hmmm, I am not entirely convinced that this will work, however I may be wrong.
I am sure that the Bluetooth is limited in it's capabilities.
I would carry out a little more research on this subject if I were you.

Unfortunately for us, internet tethering over Bluetooth isn't supported. Here's the official word: support.apple.com/kb/HT3647I guess there's a chance that jail-broken devices might be able to enable it but I'm not sure. Alan.

If I get one it'll most likely be he WiFi only option. If I need it I could get a Dongle for when I'm away. Also, using my currency converting widget, 16GB WiFi American iPads are $499, or £344. The exact same model from Apple UK is £429. Disgusting.
I have a friend who's going to America in the Summer... Would a US one work the same over here? It's just the SIM stuff that's confusing me... AT&T SIMs won't work, but I could just buy an O2 Micro-SIM and stick it in, right?

You need to bear in mind that us pricing does not include sales tax, which can vary from state to state.
Uk prices have to include vat by law.
Many people had iPad's imported from the us prior to the uk launch and as far as I am aware, these all worked perfectly.
