I'm downloading it now. One issue I may have is that Saft is not yet compatible with it Peter.

I've broken it already!
For some reason, the "Top sites" feature isn't working now, so it's just a black screen.
Peter.

Does the install replace safari 3 or can you still run them both afterwards...?

The install does seem to replace Safari 3, but there is an uninstaller which (one would hope...) presumably links to a download of Safari 3. So far no problems, although it took me some time to find the tabs - they now appear right at the top of your window, not below your menu bar. Can't see any great advantage to that yet.

I suppose the idea is that they take less space as they now share the title bar area. I don't much like the new position (though I suppose I should wait to see if I get used to it). In the meantime, if anyone wants to put the Safari 4 tabs back where they used to be in Safari 3, the you can simply launch the terminal window and type this: defaults write com.apple.Safari DebugSafari4TabBarIsOnTop -bool NO Then relaunch Safari 4. Alan.

Now why does that not come as a surprise?

It's completely gone from my system. God bless Safari 3 Peter.

I dont see the attraction of cover flow. You've raised a good point there, David. Does anybody actually use cover flow in iTunes, Finder or Safari? It does look good, but it is the most impractical way of finding things! I tried using it when I got my Mac, but it's hopeless. Peter.

Its patetic! I dont use it in iTunes, on my iPhone or in the finder. I like the finder as a list view, i like itunes with the covers but not the coverflow and iPhone its organised in playlists.

I use Coverflow in iTunes all the time! I like it, i much prefer searching through album covers for music rather than just a list or text. I also find the cover grid view very cluttered and hard to use.
The thing I think seems really obvious in itunes that apple hasn't done, is to make coverflow full screen work the same as on the ipods. As in make the album flip over to select a song rather than just having to play the first song on the album and skip down to what you want.
I don't really use coverflow on the finder at all, not to sure about having it on safari.
At the end of the day its all really personal preference, can you change the view type in safari 4 like in itunes at all..?

Does anybody actually use cover flow in iTunes, Finder or Safari? I use it in iTunes for 'browsing' - when I don't really know what I want to listen to. It's also a useful way of looking for an entire album when it contains more than one artist - particularly if you've taken the trouble to consolidate those occurences when iTunes insists a CD is actually three or four different albums because they have different artists.

One thing I don't like is that they have removed the blue progress bar in the address bar. I like some feedback about how a site is loading. Wonder if you can switch that back on?

Yes you can. There's a very useful guide on how to disable various new features here.
