As far as I know there are only two pieces of active malware in the wild that are known to affect the Mac. I don't know if Apple have patched these or not. Either way it is a good idea not to install software from untrusted sources. ClickyCat

ClickyCatThe danger if this trojan in particular (as i understand it) is that you don't have to install anything - you just have to visit the porn site - so don't install from untrusted sources and if you have to visit porn sites, find another prophilactic measure...like running it in a virtual machine and just scrapping the VM? too much trouble in my book you have been warned BB

Anyone who accepts an "ActiveX" component and then is stupid enough to enter their administrator password when surfing a porn site deserves what they get really. The same goes for Windows or Mac users.

Click Me^ Very important information Dear Mr Cat, Some may think i'm under the influence ALL the time hic! If you re-read my post I certainly didn't say it was a virus. I said it was a trojan and I wasn't quoting the BBC when i said I had heard you only had to visit the site - this was either MacBreak Weekly, MacCast or the MacGeek Geek Gab - can't remember which... it was also that podcast that mentioned running anything deemed insecure in a virtual machine and scrapping the image if infected. I don't have any AV, really don't want to go there but know that we probably will one day.... cheers - BB

Could it be that they were talking about Windows installed on the Mac?

Hmm, I am surprised that I had not heard about that one. Could it be that they were talking about Windows installed on the Mac? Nope, definitely just a Mac running OS X - I think this was a follow on from a discussion about the Java security problem which I understand is fixed with latest patch. If there's a way - pornsters and criminals will find a way..... creative little g!ts! Cheers Mr Cat - Yours BB
