In response to Keith's email in BM77 and in honour to the them to the mac and mouse surely it should be held in a true east end boozer.

I would LOVE a meet up in Ironbridge. Even if Will wants the first meet-up to be elsewhere I would hope that at some point we meet there at a later date. p.s South of London is a bloody long way for me, so from a selfish point of view a more central location suits me better.

Although I agree with Big Al in that a traditional East End pub would be a great location, I do think that Ironbridge should be the place for the first meeting.
13th of December is a bad day for me as I'm going to the Swansea Christmas bash which this year takes place in Birmingham.

Great! Ironbridge it is then - I love the idea of an East End boozer too but for the first meet it would seem fitting to meet in Ironbridge, and as Mr. C. says Ironbridge is very central (about 25 minutes from Birmingham Junction 10 M6 as there is a motorway (M54) straight to it) then the second meet (summer 2009?) maybe at the Ten Bells Pub in the East End - haunt of Jack the Ripper!
Next is the date - I propose Saturday 6th of December. Far enough away from Christmas to hopefully not clash with too many other Christmas parties. For those wishing to stay over I'll post a list of B&B's and hotels on the website, Ironbridge is a popular tourist destination and there is plenty of accommodation to suit. Plus is you fancy making a weekend of it there is plenty to do, Severn Valley Steam Railway, Blists Hill Victorian Town and loads of museums. The River Severn runs through the valley and there are lots of nice pubs and restaurants to eat and drink in.

It sounds like a plan is forming.....
I'll start seeing if I can juggle stuff in my diary to free the weekend up (or more accurately start seeing if I can juggle stuff in my PDA).

What a great idea! Sadly, as I live nearer to Calais than Birmingham, I shall have to pass up this invitation this time.
Perhaps other meetings could be further down the Midlands? Somewhere in the Northants/Bucks area perhaps?

Next is the date - I propose Saturday 6th of December. Sadly this is one of the few Saturdays that I can't make. This is always the way when you organise an event on a forum. There is never a date that everyone can make. Close to Christmas of course it is worse than normal. The weekends either side are free but sods law makes the 6th a no go. Please don't feel the need to change the date though, I will try to get to the next one.

So what's the score then Will, if this is going to happen then things need to be organised PDQ. I'm on the verge of turning down an invite to Pigs Ear on the same date but I need to know what's happening.

So to put this plan in concrete, here's the finished schedule: Meet Saturday 6th of December at the Malthouse Pub at 8.00 pm in Ironbridge, Shropshire. Here's the link to the pub www.themalthouseironbridge.com/A night of Christmas cheer and beer!

Sadly, too far away for me, and I have a Crossfire meet near Oxford on the Sunday of that weekend already lined up. Sorry, y’all.

I'm booked in now, Will, even if it's just you and me we'll have a good evening! I'm at Ye Old Robin Hood Inn which I think is not too far from the venue. Looking forward to it already

Hi all thought I'd better start throwing some posts around since I'm actually gonna be able to make it to the meet-up It's took until now for me to be able to confirm that I'm free (or let loose, as that's my take on it) so I can help record the new backing track for Ye Olde Mac & Mouse - some chinking of glasses complemented with plenty of hearty laughter - just don't ask me to sing ;D But Will, whilst we're on the subject of the 6th, I realise I may have missed the boat in getting a room within crawling distance of our last stop on the night, so can you suggest a B&B/Hotel not too far away that's worth checking out. (OK if it means grabbing a cab for the final lap that my failing limbs and senses just can't make) Oh, and whilst I type, I've now got a passenger. My pal Ben ... (I don't mean my dog!) ... has just phoned to confirm he's up for it too I'm gonna get phoning round tomorrow, but if you can suggest anywhere then please do really looking forward to the 6th Mike B and Ben W as the scary Hitcher!
