Hi Will, I am a long-time listener to your wonderful and idiosyncratic podcast (since episode 4 I think), but never got round to joining the forums. I have meant to for ages, but the promise of free stuff finally prompted me into action I first used a Mac when I went to study Typography at Reading Uni in 1988, where there was a Mac studio with Mac Classics and I distinctly remember the arrival of a couple of Mac SE/30s in 1989 which every tried to jump on. I still chuckle when I recall running Photoshop from a floppy disk and the great excitement when the first Mac with a colour screen appeared. I am a Design Manager and currently use a 8-core Mac Pro at work and have a 15" MacBook Pro at home. Every time I feel my Mac might be taking a little bit too long to do something I think back to the 1980s and what I would have thought of what can be accomplished with today's machines back then Thanks for all your efforts with the podcast - they are much appreciated, and as they would say in a Carry On film: "keep it up!"

Hi everyone Think we're past the magic 5 but if not count me in for some DTP. Pages really isn't cutting it for me at the moment! I've resorted to using an old OS9 app... I've been Mac since 1995. I'm currently using a late 2006 C2D MBP and hoping to stay that way for a while. I can't decide what to get next and can't afford this expensive habit! Still hoping for the magical resurrection of my beloved 2001 iBook which suffered a graphics logic board failure so works perfectly, you just can't see anything Loved the latest Windows rant. In XP's defence it's not completely awful if well cared for but my complete disdain for Vista might cloud my judgement there. There's so many things my Mac just does and you spend hours coaxing Windows to do and it never works...

Hello to all members, I'm Phil Wilkinson from Goldthorpe near Barnsley South Yorkshire and decided to join the British Mac forum after listening to the excellent podcasts from Mr Will Green. Although new to the MAC I do have a little knowledge (very dangerous) because I ran an Amiga software company in the 90s. I hope that you can forgive me for my past crimes and let me into the wonderful world of Apple. Hope to speak to you all later.

Hi each, I'm Tim from Oxfordshire. Only been a Mac user for about 4 months, and only just discovered British Mac. One episode down, and lots more to listen to! Like some others here, I used to have an Amiga in the old days (I think it might even be still up in the attic...)
Spent 25 years in the PC/Windows programming game, for various companies, and going all the way back to Windows 2! (if you've ever bought a train ticket from one of those touch screen machines, there's a 50-50 chance that I wrote its software. Not sure if that's a good thing or not...) Anyhow, after a run-in with the Big 'R', I've decided to chance my hand at the indie iOS game scene, just to be completely different! Ho ho ho, what larks eh?
Pip! Pip!

Hi great to hear from you and welcome to the Mac. I'm an Amiga convert too from back in the day, how we used to hate Mac's and they hated us too. Funny how we're all drawn to the Mac these days.

Ah, but they weren't as bad as Atari ST users...

Steady on guys.
I had an Atari 520STFM for a short time, prior to owning an Amiga 1200, all part of the learning curve.
